Handmade Football Invitations
Score a touchdown with creative handmade invitations to a football party. Make homemade felt footballs with your party information on the back. Start by getting pieces of brown felt, brown construction paper and a white gel marker. Cut out football shapes from the felt and slightly smaller football shapes from the paper. With the white gel pen, add details like the laces to the felt football and write the party information on the paper one. Center the paper footballs on the felt ones and glue the two together. With a little planning you’ll get a great looking decorative handmade invitation that’s quick and easy to make.
If you want to add a little more decoration, use flat white shoelaces for the football's laces. Punch at least four small holes about a half inch from the top of the felt football and ¼-inch apart. Thread a piece of lace going back to front then over the top edge and down the back to just barely past the hole. Use very short pieces of shoelaces and one per hole. Tape the two ends of each lace on the back. Now center the paper football on the back of the felt one. Make sure to cover the ends of the laces and glue the two together. For this laced invitation, you might want to use a heavier card stock for the paper, so it won’t show the ends of the laces.
A variation on this theme would be football jerseys in team colors. Draw in details and personalize with the name of the guest. Then add the party details to the paper jersey. Glue them together and enjoy great looking homemade invitations.
