Handmade Indianapolis 500 Invitations
Wave the checkered flag for your guests with handmade invitations for an Indianapolis
500 party. You can start your celebration by giving unique homemade invitations shaped like the checkered flag at races. It is easy to do and will be one of those invitations that people keep in a scrapbook. Start you handmade creation by getting white card stock, kabob skewers, a sharp craft knife, sand paper, white tape or transparent tape, wide tipped black markers and a ruler. Thin paper ribbon in a variety of colors.
Start your homemade invitations by cutting the card stock into rectangles. Make sure that the shape will fit in the envelope you are planning to use. Using the ruler draw a grid on one side of the rectangular shape and color it in with the black wide tipped marker in a checkered pattern. On the back on the other side of the card stock put glue along sides, top and bottom, leaving room for your party information. Now here's the fun part to making your handmade invitations, take a wooden skewer and using the craft knife cut it in half leaving two short skewers of equal length. Use the sandpaper to sand down n the rough cut ends. Sand the pointed ends to a nice safe rounded shape. Tape the checkered homemade flag to the skewers leaving about 1/8 inch above the flag.
Too add and even more festive touch to your handmade flag tape a few pieces of ribbons in various colors to the top of the flag pole. You are now the proud giver of a homemade invitation that you guests will never forget.
